8. Old stories are like old friends. You have to visit them from time to time- BRAN STARK

I've read a lot on Bran Stark lately and him becoming a tree, the crow being Bloodraven and trying to corrupt Bran and Bran being villainous later and some just doesn't add up to me. I think Bran's story is going to involve much more than just being a tree warging into other creatures.
I'll be talking pure literary terms. Bran's storyline has been being built for books upon books now. We've had a POV of his throughout the entire series except for AFFC and that's only because ADWD takes place at the same time. On top of that, all of it has been geared towards the three-eyed crow. But on the way, things change.
In previous books, we get a strong possibility that the Three eyed crow is actually Bloodraven which gives even more insight. Some people have suggested that Bran will join with the Others and become a sort of villain and this is already apparent when he uses Hodor's body like a tool. But this makes little sense to me.
The cave itself is warded against Wights and the Others. The Children of the Forest are historically against the Wights and the Others. They allied with the first men to defeat them. This we know from Old Nan's stories and they are wholly significant simply because entire chapters were dedicated to them, some were denied vehemently by Luwin only to be proven right later. This will play significance later.
TWOW will most probably show something very cold and horrible. The Others should be making their appearance on par with winter and its winds and when they do, Bran will step up. He alone was told their stories and he knows the true Children of the Forest. I believe that he will convince them to go to battle against the Others once again and remake the old allegiance with the First Men.
See, all our major character POV's have been getting real action, most have gotten into the thick of things but the one exception is Bran. He's just been doing his own thing and his time to make a major impact on the storyline is long due. I do not think he will stay in that cave either. If Bran is to become a tree, he would not want to do it beyond the wall.
Reasons? Meera, Jojen, adventure, Winterfell, and in a way, Robb Stark however dead he might be. Bran is in love with Meera. We've established this. And should he discover his destiny is to be a tree, love will stop it. He will not want to leave those he loves, particularly Meera behind just to become a tree.
Will he want that future? Adventurous Bran who wants to be a Knight settling for the tree? I doubt it. I know that some suggest that Bran gaining this God-like power will be bigger than what Bran wanted before and he would take it because God>Knight but Bran just doesn't want it. He didn't want to be a Lord over a Knight even though Lord>Knight. To him, adventure is his forte.
On top of that, we have the issue of Jojen. His own climax is coming. His death predicted. Bran will want to go with them and help, especially since prophecies and Jojen's dreams are not always as they seem. He would not want to watch them leave. It's possible that he could watch them from the trees and ravens and stuff but so long as he's simply watching, there's nothing he can do to help. He'll just be there.
Then we got Winterfell. Bran is watching Winterfell and its fight is coming. How do we think Bran will feel about a bunch of strange people fighting for Winterfell? And should Rickon play a role, Bran will be pushed to join in, and maybe lead the Children of the Forest into it. After all, he does have one birthright and that is Lord of Winterfell whatever else he may be. And speaking of Winterfell, he has many rights over that place. Rights we seem to be forgetting.
Robb Stark is the one King who was crowned by the people. He didn't claim it and gain support. He gained support and was given the crown. In that sense, he was the rightful King and when he died, as when all Kings die, their throne and crown passes to the next in line. When Robert died, the next in line was his brother Stannis. And when Robb died, the next was not his unborn son or even Jon Snow but Bran Stark.
Conveniently, everyone thinks Bran to be dead. Same with Rickon. And things have progressed based on those assumptions. And so it is basically to be expected that Bran will be revealed one way or another. Sansa is about to make a claim, Rickon is coming back and Arya... the Stranger knows. Bran will play his role too. And if he pops up, it will destroy any claim Rickon or Sansa ever make.
By all rights, Bran Stark is the King of the North, Lord of Wintefell, Warden of the North and its rightful Prince. There is plenty of reason to believe that Bran represents a young King Arthur who gains his companions and with a little help from Wizardry (Merlin/Bloodraven) gains the throne and brings peace. Remember, this is a Song of Ice and Fire and our fire is Danaerys. Will our Ice be Bran? The sword Ice like Excalibur? One thing for sure, it'll involve the Starks and the song will involve their unison with Danaerys perhaps. Jon/Danaerys most likely because Bran's got Meera and the North to look after and if ever he chooses to live as a tree, which I doubt, it would be done from Winterfell not a snowy desolate wasteland beyond the wall.
In any case, Bran has a lot more to him than just being a tree especially when he has other factors tying him to Winterfell and the North.
Bran's storyline will mean more than him merging with a tree like Bloodraven. I believe Bran will lead the Children of the Forest into battle against the Others as is their historical expectations. Eventually Bran will want to leave those lands and return to Winterfell because he loves Meera, he wants to make sure Jojen is ok, he prefers adventure, and Winterfell as well as the crown is his birthright. The fact that everyone believes Bran to be dead means that eventually, everyone will discover that he is not and that will change everything.
